Welcome Back!

Our first 2 days have been busy, exciting, fun and productive! The most important priority is creating and maintaining a welcoming, nurturing, kind, respectful classroom community where we embrace our similarities and differences! Our "Getting to Know" you activities encourage students to meet new faces and start cultivating possible new friendships while maintaining old, familiar relationships.
Learning new routines is a very big part of our day as well. Students are embracing a new academic and Allied Art schedule, along with participating in our Helping Hands assignments. We have fun ways to create partnerships and are in the process of making an All About Me Poster come alive!
Stay tuned for more announcements and photos as we begin our journey together!

Below you will find some fun moments I captured while the students enthusiastically  embraced a marshmallow challenge!

Welcome 2017/18 Fourth Graders and Families!

Dear Students and Families,

I hope this finds you having a fun-filled summer. I am very excited about the upcoming school year! My students and I always learn so much from each other.

I am in the process of getting the classroom ready for YOU to play, learn and grow. My most important job is to help you thrive academically and personally, help you feel successful in fourth grade and prepare you for fifth grade. I am confident we can work TOGETHER to make this happen.

Enclosed is your supply list. Please feel free to label these items with a permanent marker. We usually find many items on the floor at the end of the day so it is helpful to have them personalized.
  • 1 pencil box filled with 1 box crayons, 1 dozen sharpened pencils, and glue sticks. (Feel free to bring in colored markers too).
  • 1 slide lock report cover (please label this)
  • 2 composition books / marble cover journals- (please label with your name)
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 two-pocket homework folder labeled with the word “HOMEWORK”
  • 1 two-pocket folder labeled “Health” for Health class
  • 1 pair of headphones labeled in a ziplock bag
  • 1 box of tissues and 1 box of disinfecting wipes (optional items) for our classroom!
Have a great finish to your summer and sprinkle it with lots of enthusiasm and motivation to come back to school. I can’t wait to see you on the first day of school. it should be a day of getting to know you activities, discovering old and new friendships, exploring the classroom and starting a fresh fourth grade experience. Please feel free to email me at mjham@capeelizabethschools.org if you have any questions. Thank you and see ya soon!

Fondly,

Mrs. Ham

What a wonderful class celebration today! It warmed my heart to see my students share all their hard work with their loved ones! As I was looking around the room, I became very sentimental... this is a a special group! Why is it that when you know the end is here you appreciate what you have more than ever? I experienced that emotion today.

I want to thank all of you from the very bottom of my heart for your on-going support. I also want to give a shout out to all those parent volunteers who join us on field trips and came in the classroom from time to time!  Most of all, thank you for trusting me to teach your children-it was a honor and my passion to help them grow.

You all have done an amazing job- their respectfulness, cooperation, hard word, etc... speaks volumes of YOU!
